A dishwasher runs 365 cycles a year, more than any other kitchen appliance. When the pump fails, the door latch breaks, or the control board gives out, what happens next depends almost entirely on how the manufacturer designed it and whether you can still get parts. The EU Right to Repair Directive, taking effect as national law across all member states by July 31, 2026, changes the legal minimum, but the best brands were already decades ahead of that floor.
We ran RepairScores across all 20 dishwashers in our database, covering built-in and freestanding models from Miele, Bosch, AEG, Siemens, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Samsung, Indesit, Candy, Gorenje, Zanussi, Hotpoint, Grundig, Fagor, De Dietrich, and Hisense. Scores combine EU EPREL repairability data (30%), EU parts availability (25%), disassembly complexity (20%), community repair data from the Open Repair Data Network (15%), and manufacturer support duration (10%).

Brand Analysis: Three Tiers of Repairability
Premium Tier: Miele and BSH Group (Scores 78–88)
Miele occupies the top two spots for reasons that go beyond marketing. The G 7630 SCi AutoDos (88) and G 7310 SC AutoDos (86) both feature front-accessible pump assemblies, sealed water protection around the control electronics, and a parts guarantee Miele publishes as 15 years from last manufacture. The AutoDos automatic detergent system uses a user-replaceable cartridge, even that detail is designed for longevity rather than forcing a service call.
Bosch's Serie 8 SMV8YCX03E (82) benefits from one of the most significant structural advantages in the dishwasher market: the BSH Group shared parts platform. Bosch, Siemens, Neff, and Gaggenau, all BSH brands, share a substantial proportion of internal components. That means a pump seal, door latch spring, or spray arm support designed for a 2019 Siemens is likely to fit a 2024 Bosch. Parts warehouses across the EU carry BSH components at scale, parts dispatch times are typically 2–3 days, and the service documentation network covers every EU market.
AEG's FSE83808P (80) joins the premium tier via the Electrolux group's European infrastructure. Like BSH, Electrolux maintains a shared components platform across AEG, Electrolux, Zanussi, and other brands. The FSE83808P's ProSteam function uses a dedicated steam generator, a more complex assembly, but Electrolux's 10-year parts guarantee covers it.
Both Siemens models (SR67ZX10ME and SN65ZX49CE iQ500, both 78) reinforce the BSH platform story. They share spray arm assemblies, pump housings, and control modules with Bosch equivalents. A Siemens iQ500 may score 4 points below a Bosch Serie 8, but both machines use the same parts ecosystem, which means independent repairers across Europe can stock inventory that works across half the dishwashers on the market.
Mid Tier: Electrolux and Whirlpool (Scores 68–74)
The Electrolux EES27100L (74) sits at the upper end of the mid tier, benefiting from the Electrolux group parts network while occupying a more accessible price point than AEG. The EES27100L is a freestanding model with a condenser drying system, no heated element, which removes one of the most common failure points in dishwashers. Door seals, spray arms, and the circulation pump are all parts that Electrolux ships within 5–7 days across the EU.
Whirlpool's WFC 3C33 PF X (68) represents a meaningful step down in repairability. Whirlpool operates its own service network separately from BSH and Electrolux, and while EU parts availability is adequate for current models, the service network density varies significantly across EU member states. In Germany, France, and the UK, Whirlpool-authorised technicians are plentiful. In smaller EU markets, wait times and parts costs can be substantially higher.
Budget Tier: Samsung, Hotpoint, Indesit, Grundig, Candy, and Hisense (Scores 60–66)
Samsung's DW60A8060BB (66) leads the budget tier but with an asterisk. Samsung's EU repair programme has improved significantly in 2024–2025, ahead of the July 2026 R2R compliance deadline, with a new parts portal and improved delivery times. The DW60A8060BB's most commonly replaced parts, control boards and door latches, are now available within 5–7 days through Samsung's EU parts system. But Samsung's dishwashers lack the parts-platform advantages of BSH or Electrolux. Each model range has more proprietary components, and third-party parts availability lags significantly behind the premium brands. Hotpoint (65) and Grundig (63) occupy similar ground, adequate for current-model repairs but with shorter practical support windows.
Indesit's DIC 3C24 A (64), Candy's CDPN2D1149W (62), and Hisense HS673C60XUK (60) share a common problem: all three are entry-level models from brands that have historically deprioritised post-sale service infrastructure. Parts exist for current models, but the support window is shorter than the EU minimum in practice, third-party parts are scarce, and service documentation is not publicly available. A Hisense, Candy, or Indesit dishwasher purchased today may struggle to find certified repair support beyond year 6–7 of its life. The R2R Directive will raise the legal floor, but compliance enforcement will take time.
Mid-Market Entrants: De Dietrich, Gorenje, Fagor, and Others
The expanded database adds eight brands at the mid-market tier. De Dietrich DVH1041J (74) is a French premium brand with strong EU service depth, tied with Electrolux at 74, an underrated choice for French and Benelux consumers. Gorenje GS62010W (72) is a Slovenian brand (now Hisense-owned) with European manufacturing heritage; the GS62010W benefits from an accessible parts network across Central and Eastern Europe. Fagor 3LVF-62S (71) is a Spanish brand with a loyal Iberian following, offering solid parts access across Portugal and Spain.
Zanussi ZDLN91511 (69) and Beko BDEN38640F (68) both sit just under Whirlpool, sharing Electrolux and BSH-adjacent parts platforms respectively. Hotpoint HSIO 3T235 WCE (65) and Grundig GNFP3631W (63) occupy the lower-mid tier, adequate repairability but shorter realistic support windows. Hisense HS673C60XUK (60) closes the ranking: the budget Chinese brand has expanded rapidly in the EU dishwasher market, but its service infrastructure is still maturing. EU R2R compliance obligations from July 2026 will push Hisense to improve significantly.
Form Factor Analysis: Built-In vs Freestanding
Eight of the 20 dishwashers in our database are built-in (fully integrated) models; twelve are freestanding. Repairability scores follow a clear pattern: built-in models average 78.1 points, freestanding models average 70.3. The gap isn't about the dishwasher mechanism, both types use the same internal components. It's about access.
Built-in dishwashers are typically premium models. Miele's G 7630 SCi (88) and G 7310 SC (86), Bosch's Serie 8 SMV8YCX03E (82), AEG's FSE83808P (80), and Siemens' SR67ZX10ME (78) are all fully integrated. These brands price their integrated models higher and invest more in service infrastructure to match. The correlation between built-in and higher RepairScore reflects brand investment, not form factor advantage.
Freestanding models range from 62 (Candy) to 86 (Miele G 7310 SC AutoDos, which is actually semi-integrated). For built-in installations, the repair access question matters more: a technician must be able to pull the unit out, work on it, and reinstall it, making front-accessible components and well-documented installation procedures critical. All three Miele and Bosch built-in models in our database score well on this criterion.
EU Right to Repair: What July 2026 Means for Dishwashers
Dishwashers are already covered by EU Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2021/666, which has required manufacturers to publish spare parts availability data in the EPREL database since 2021. The July 2026 Right to Repair Directive (Directive 2024/1799) adds several important new requirements on top of Ecodesign:
- Manufacturers cannot restrict software-based diagnostic functions to authorised service centres only, independent repairers get access at non-discriminatory prices
- Repair information and service manuals must be freely available, not just available on request from authorised centres
- European Repair Information Form must be provided on request before any repair begins, standardising cost and timeframe estimates
- A 12-month extended warranty applies to any repaired dishwasher after July 2026
- Manufacturers cannot legally design products to prevent repair (anti-repair design clauses)
- Parts must be priced at non-discriminatory rates, pricing parts above the replacement cost of the machine to discourage repair becomes legally contestable
For dishwashers specifically, the most impactful change is likely the diagnostic access requirement. Several mid-tier brands currently route all fault-code access through proprietary apps or brand-specific diagnostic tools available only to authorised service centres. After July 2026, independent repairers gain legal access to those diagnostics, which should improve competition and reduce repair costs by 15–25% in the independent repair market.
Brands that will feel the most pressure from the Directive: Samsung (diagnostic access), Indesit and Candy (service documentation), and Whirlpool (parts pricing transparency). Brands already largely compliant: Miele, Bosch, Siemens, and AEG.
The Most Common Dishwasher Repairs, and What They Cost
Understanding which parts typically fail helps you evaluate RepairScore in context. The three most common dishwasher repairs across EU repair networks are:
- Door seal replacement: The rubber gasket around the door degrades over time, causing leaks. Parts cost €15–40 depending on brand; labour 30–60 minutes. BSH and Miele seals are widely available; Candy and Indesit seals can be harder to source.
- Spray arm replacement: Spray arms crack or clog from hard water mineral buildup. A replacement arm costs €8–25 for most EU brands. BSH group spray arms are often cross-compatible across Bosch, Siemens, and Neff models.
- Circulation pump failure: The most serious common fault. Pump replacement costs €60–150 in parts, plus 1–2 hours of labour. Miele and Bosch pumps are available within 48 hours from multiple EU distributors; Candy and Indesit pumps may take 2–3 weeks.
Buying Guide: Dishwasher RepairScore Budget Tiers
Score 80–88: Premium Repairability, Buy for Longevity
Miele G 7630 SCi AutoDos (88), Miele G 7310 SC AutoDos (86), Bosch Serie 8 SMV8YCX03E (82), AEG FSE83808P (80), Bosch Serie 6 SMS6ZCI48E (80). These are the dishwashers you buy expecting to run for 15+ years. Retail prices range from €700 (Bosch Serie 6) to €1,400+ (Miele G 7630). The premium is partly for features, partly for build quality, and partly for the service ecosystem behind it. If you repair a Miele in year 8, parts arrive in 48 hours, cost the same as they did in year 2, and the service documentation exists to guide any competent technician.
Score 74–78: Good Repairability, The Sensible Mid-Range
Siemens SR67ZX10ME (78), Siemens SN65ZX49CE iQ500 (78), Electrolux EES27100L (74). Typical retail prices €500–750. These models represent genuine repairability at accessible price points. Both Siemens models share BSH group parts, so the service ecosystem is essentially the same as Bosch despite the lower retail price. The Electrolux benefits from Electrolux group infrastructure. Expect 10–12 year realistic lifespans with normal maintenance.
Score 60–68: Fair Repairability, Acceptable Short-Term
Whirlpool WFC 3C33 PF X (68), Beko BDEN38640F (68), Samsung DW60A8060BB (66), Hotpoint HSIO 3T235 WCE (65), Indesit DIC 3C24 A (64), Grundig GNFP3631W (63), Candy CDPN2D1149W (62), Hisense HS673C60XUK (60). Retail prices typically €300–550. These models are repairable, they're not disposable appliances, but they carry meaningful risk. Parts availability is less consistent, service networks are thinner in some EU markets, and the practical support window is closer to 7–8 years than 15. If you're replacing an old machine and are tight on budget, a Whirlpool, Beko, or Samsung at this tier is workable. Indesit, Candy, and Hisense require more caution: the savings on purchase price may not compensate for the higher cost and inconvenience of repair if something significant fails.
RepairScore is one input into a purchase decision, not the only one. Capacity, noise level, energy class, and programme options all matter. But when two models are otherwise comparable, the brand with the better RepairScore is the one whose parts will still be available at a fair price in 2032.
